We've been invested in the musings of South London-based producer and songwriter Saint Jude (aka Jude Woodhead) since his dazzling debut 'Deaf Ears, Blind Years' in 2019. Offering up another accomplished cut via the consistently reliable SLOW DANCE label, 'Bodies of Water' sees Woodhead embracing the dancier aspects of his sound. Set over a reverb-heavy house beat, minimal ethereal elements haunt the mix as Woodhead's distinctive baritone vocals spill out earnestly through the verses. Introducing some glimmering guitar work for an instrumental anti-chorus, the second verse increases in intensity, incorporating atmospheric sound effects that take the track to dizzying new heights. Taking an unexpectedly trancey turn just before the end 'Bodies Of Water' is a multi-faceted slice of chill-wave-inspired nostalgia, with enough intriguing elements to leave you pressing repeat. -Holly Mullineaux
